SKKU-SOM International Symposium on Translational Medicine

The International Symposium on Translational Medicine was held at Samsung Medical Center on November 18 and 19. The symposium was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the foundation of SKKU School of Medicine, and also to expand global network and to encourage collaborative research with researchers from around the globe. Speakers were invited from the world-renowned universities to share their up-to-date research outcomes and developments.

 

The symosium consisted of 2 sessions- Cancer Biology and Neurlogical Disease. On the first day, the symposium began with the opening remarks of Executive Vice President, Prof. Whan Eoh, followed by the plenary session (Convergene in Medicine) presented by the Dean of SKKU School of Medicine, Prof. Kyung Soo Lee.

In the first session, Prof. Nicholas La Thangue (Oxford University), Prof. Yutaka Kawakami (Keio University), Prof. Monte Winslow (Stanford University), Prof. Wanli Liu (Tisnghua University) , Prof. Kyeung Min Joo (SKKU-SOM), and Prof. Woong-Yang Park (SKKU-SOM) gave talk on various issues involved in Cancer Biology.

On the second day, Prof. Karl Herrup(HKUST), Prof. Midori Yenari (UCSF), Prof. Mark Cook (University of Melbourne), Prof. Chris Levi (University of Newcastle), Prof. Melinda Fitzgerald (University of Western Australia), and Prof. Sang Won Seo (SKKU-SOM) presented their research projects on Neurological Disease.

 

Over 200 faculty members, researchers and students joined the symposium and shared ideas and made active discussion on the presentations, and made communications for future network and joint research.

 

SKKU-SOM would like to appreciate all speakers and participants for joining the symposium, and plan to arrange similar occasions in the future to continuously strengthen the global partnership with global institutions.
